The COMMUNITY
The collaboration between the Art School and the local arts community finds its apotheosis in the monthly White Room arts café. This is a very popular event, both with members of the School and local people. It has proved to offer a lively association with the arts for those who do not study the subject.
The programme of this event ranges from talks by artists and filmmakers, poetry and musical recitals, small-scale theatre and performance. The event has a social dimension and allows members of the School to meet with artists, curators and critics form the local community and with students and staff from other local schools and colleges.
The cultural and exhibitions programme at the regional arts centre at Sherborne House is an essential asset for the Art School and harmonises with the oliverHOLT programme.
The art school also collaborates with a 'cluster' of four local primary schools on an exhibition derived from student driven workshops for gifted pupils hosted at Sherborne.
